If you love the Rocky Mountains, Grand Lake, and BUTTERFLIES then this wedding is going to absolutely blow your mind! As epic as the details are, I think it’s appropriate to start off the blog with the sweet emails that Lisa and Matt sent each other the morning after they got married:

Lisa: It’s 5:30am & I woke up to a beautiful sunrise knowing I am your wife. I couldn’t feel any happier! I am so lucky & feel complete. I love you husband & always will. Love you! Mrs….I’m coming to bed soon… Just excited!!!

Matt: I woke up at some time, but time didn’t matter as I saw my sleeping beauty, my wife, my life, and what I thought was a smile on her angelic face…I knew my world was perfect. I am the happiest man alive and will do all that I can to keep you the happiest woman alive. I love you, my wife! Love, Your Husband

Yeah, see. Aren’t they so great?! Here are a few words from their photographer Ryan Erickson:

Moose, mountain tops, butterflies, purple and more butterflies were just a few of the important parts of Lisa and Matt’s grand wedding at Grand Lake Lodge!

I’ve never blushed so much to know how excited Lisa and Matt were to have me as part of their big day. It’s been one that’s been years in the making and it’s been so fun to have her keep me up to date on the details over the last year.

Bruce, the Grand Lake Moose even made an appearance at the reception and the kids (and Lisa) went wild. One of my favorite shots was their parting photo at night with hundreds of paper butterflies (biodegradable) tossed around them!

Thanks Lisa and Matt for continuing to make me feel so special and grand in Grand Lake!

Thanks to Cydney from Stiletto Events – Denver for making their day special too!

And now just a few words from the Bride and Groom…OK, mostly from Lisa, but a quote from Matt’s wedding vows are included!

Oh, to describe our fairytale wedding…all of my dreams came true that day, but every day that Matt & I have been together have been simply perfect. We’re just happy people! 2 free spirits came together & became even freer & we brought 2 amazing families together who are now bonded together as one.

Matt’s more eloquent than I am, haha! And he’s in Chicago right now, so how about this…My birthday is coming up on Monday & when I got home yesterday, he left me a pre-birthday present with a card that contained his wedding speech that never happened because we ended up speaking from the heart :) There are good snippets in here & I think we’d agree on our favorite moments, so I’ll share those as well.

“I feel as young as when I met her, 4,097 days ago…

I want to thank Mort & Karen for accepting me into their family and for bringing me the other half of my life. There is no Matt Kral without Mom & Dad Kral, but there is no me without Lisa.

I love you for being my little spoon and promise to always be your big spoon.

I love you for, figuratively & literally, lighting up every room you enter and promise to keep your electricity going.

I love you for making me the man I am and promise to be an even better man, husband, lover and best friend every day.

You make everything in life special just by being you.

Yes, I had cold feet when I asked her out about 4,100 days ago, that’s why I signed my lease first and walked 3 blocks away to ask her out over the phone!

And most of all, I love you for loving me. I will love you forever and ever…my dreams came true today, but every day is a dream with you.”

Isn’t he sweet???!!! Melt my heart….

OK, here’s what you asked for…

When we first saw Grand Lake we both stopped in our tracks & knew this was the perfect spot for us to become husband & wife. There are so many things we loved about our wedding day, so this is going to be tough! I think the best moment was the first look. It was like we fell in love all over again and our love for one another went to another level & we never even knew it could get any better! Matt shed tears & it touched my heart (and then my tears began!) There are really no words to describe the look in his eyes when he first saw me as his bride and soon to be wife. Another favorite moment; during our ceremony, it felt like Matt & I were the only ones on the planet, we were in heaven. I literally felt like a butterfly who had been caught by my love! To keep it short (it’s already long!), but we loved being surrounded with the love of our family & friends. I was, quite frankly, overwhelmed by how much love was at our wedding; my heart could’ve burst…in a good way!

Our wedding, to me, was so unique because of the beautiful mountain surroundings, I pulled off the butterfly dress (haha & yay!), the immense love I felt from everyone there, our Native American officiant who made our wedding so unique & spiritual, oh and having Bruce the Grand Lake Moose make an appearance to celebrate my little niece, Ella’s birthday.

Lastly, originally we named our wedding “Matt & Lisa’s You Might See a Moose Wedding” because Matt calls me “Moose” and almost every guest saw real moose, which was awesome!!, but in retrospect, I call it our “Fairytale Came True Wedding” because it was like heaven on earth.

Probably more than you wanted! I always tell Matt he is my favorite person on the planet because he makes me feel beautiful, special & precious every day…and that’s no lie! He is a gift & I treasure his love.

Planning an elopement from around the world was easy for Camilla and Niklas, as they found us online, searching for how to book a dogsled tour for their destination wedding in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  The couple from Sweden asked us to help them arrange a photographer, the bridal bouquet and boutonierre, the officiant, the transportation and the dog sled.

We met with the vendors at the barn a few days before the wedding, and made sure everything was set.  Details were worked out and all the ceremony planning was finalized.

There are many operators that offer snowmobiling, skiing, dog sledding and winter activities.  As a longtime Florist and Breckenridge wedding planner specializing in adventure weddings, we understand the nature of the mountains, how harsh the elements can be, and the need to secure quality services from reliable vendors that will see your vision through.

We are here to help you put all the pieces together to create fun-filled experiences that you'll want to remember for the rest of your lives.  How do you do that, you ask?  Well, for starters, you can sign up for one of our wedding planning packages that will help you source all the vendors you need, book the activities you want to do, and secure rental items you don't need to buy.

You can choose between photo or video production packages, or both.  We suggest both.  We love still images, but video captures longer moments that still images just can't.  I've noticed that more than one bride saying they wish they had a video of the day, to see who all was there, and to see moments from the day.  The day will go fast, so make sure you're set up to capture it and enjoy for years to come through photos, videos and most importantly, the stories your guests will tell.

Or, as in this case, no guests will tell, but instead have fun photos and video of your adventure wedding in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  Check back later for the video of this dogsled winter elopement in Breckenridge

Let's be honest here.  Weddings require planning, and planning means time.  Even elopements.  We  want to make this experience fun, easy and stress free for you. Each of our adventure wedding experiences are hand crafted by local seasoned professionals. From the handmade cake, to the handmade bouquet, each piece of your day is put together carefully, as we all understand how important quality is to you.

When you work with a longtime local who knows the venues, vendors and options up here, we pretty much take all the guess work out of the planning details for you.  We guide you and find out who you are as a couple and will find a way to create a wedding that is unique to the two of you.  Ask yourself, if you were a cake topper as a couple, what would it look like?

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Beth + Mark in Breckenridge, Colorado | photo[briankraft.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography, Breckenridge Wedding Planner, Colorado Wedding Blog, Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding Beth and Mark eloped and were married in Breckenridge, Colorado.  This is their story.  What' s yours?

When I used to hear that someone eloped, certain images would come to my mind.  Elvis, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, maybe,  a small town justice of the peace.  Before my eyes, flashes of two star-crossed young lovers sneaking out of their bedroom windows, running away in the middle of the night from everything they've ever known to get married,  real quick like.

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Beth + Mark in Breckenridge, Colorado | photo[briankraft.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography, Breckenridge Wedding Planner, Colorado Wedding Blog, Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding

But, everything changed the other day when I saw the stunning photographs of Beth and Mark's Breckenridge Elopement.   They had a real wedding ceremony  at Rounds Point in Breckenridge with an officiant and even an acoustic guitarist.

It looked like a wedding with lots and lots of guests, but no one was there except Beth, Mark, the officiant, the photographer and the musician.

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Beth + Mark in Breckenridge, Colorado | photo[briankraft.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography, Breckenridge Wedding Planner, Colorado Wedding Blog, Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding

But let's back up.  The ceremony, to me, wasn't even the best part of the wedding (although, it's a close second).  After looking through hundreds of their photos, I noticed a genuine tenderness between them.  A quiet bond, and a genuine love.

In so many weddings, you see the groom pulled one way, the bride pulled another.  You'll read in a lot of wedding books and magazines that say to "make sure you schedule in time to spend together."

It seems so  obvious, but to anyone who has gotten married in a traditional way with lots of invited guests,  it seems you spend a lot more time talking to and making sure your guests are having fun than spending time , just the two of you together.

Beth and Mark spent the entire day together.  Just the two of them.  No outside distractions.  The most romantic part of their day, for me, as I was re-living it through their photographs was that they dressed each other.

How sexy is that?  I mean, him zipping up her dress, and her fastening his cuff links.  That's the way a real married couple would get dressed for a special  night out together.

Under Beth's gorgeous lace dress, she wore classic cowboy boots which is not only a sassy, stylish statement but in Colorado, in the mountains,  it's just plain  sensible.

They stayed at One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge which is located at the unrivaled location at the base of Peak 8 where luxury and location meet.  It's an ideal location in  a perfect destination. Travel magazines everywhere agree: One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge is where the memories of a lifetime are made.

Dina Sanchez, the Flower Maven at Petal and Bean created Beth's beautiful,  something blue, hydrangea bouquet and Mark's boutonniere. With the stunning mountain back drop, and the love in each of their eyes, they didn't need much to decorate their day.

After their ceremony, they walked down Breckenridge's quaint Victorian main street to their favorite little outdoor food cart,  Crepes Ala Carte  in their full wedding attire.  Usually, when I pass by the  Crepe place, there's a line down the steps and out to the sidewalk, but in October when Beth and Mark got married, they had the place to themselves.

Colorado based wedding  Photographer, Brian Kraft, captured Beth and Mark's day in a way I'm not many photographers could.  He brought a fine art quality to his approach of documentary style photographs.  I fell in love with Beth and Mark  and their wedding through his lens.

On Brian's photography blog, he writes,

"I had the great pleasure of photographing a most intimate wedding up in the mountain town of Breckenridge this fall. Beth and Mark contacted me earlier in the year from their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma and wanted me to join them as they came to Colorado, just the two of them to tie the knot.  In person, I was just so amazed at how sweet they were. Just incredibly genuine, welcoming folks."

{ Real Mountain Wedding } Beth + Mark in Breckenridge, Colorado | photo[briankraft.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography, Breckenridge Wedding Planner, Colorado Wedding Blog, Rocky Mountain Destination Wedding

One of my favorite photos, was this one above.    The two  of them dancing alone in the yard at Lomax Placer in Breckenridge.  It still gets the hopeless romantic  girl in me (even after looking at these photos dozens of times).  It makes me  think that these are the moments that will  make up a life together.  It's  the dancing alone in the middle of the day, the dressing each other before a special occasion, the little bites to eat at a favorite place in between going from here to there.

It's not the kiss that will sustain the marriage, but the tender embraces strung together day after day.  I have a whole new respect for elopements and think that it makes a lot of sense. There is just something so intimate and quiet about the whole thing. It doesn't have to be a hurried, middle of the night escape.  You can plan it all out just they way you two want.

I'll let you in on a secret.  Lake Dillon isn't really a lake.  It's actually a reservoir, containing the drainages of three streams.  The Snake comes from Keystone, the Blue comes from Breckenridge, and Ten Mile Creek travels from Copper Mountain.  Buildings were moved, houses were relocated, and the area that is filled with water is what you see.
