Spring Activities to do in Breckenridge, Colorado

It’s no secret that spring is one of the best times to visit Breckenridge. The temperatures are warming up, theres plenty of new snowfall, and sunshine fills the sky. There are a ton of activities to enjoy before the snow melts and summer takes over. Of course, I highly recommend checking out the world-class skiing and snowboarding in our backyard. Summit County,  and Breckenridge in particular, have nine ski areas within an hour's drive. And, there are many opportunities for low or no impact activities around town as well.

Reach out and ask us how we can help pull your whole trip together and find the right activities for you while you’re here for your destination elopement experience for the Breckenridge area.

1 - Skiing & Snowboarding

Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Vail and Beaver Creek are all within a hour drive of Summit County. Rent some gear, grab a ticket, and go enjoy a slushy spring afternoon of skier. You can even plan to take a lesson or follow around a local for the day to find the hidden gems.

2 - Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing

Hiking may seem like a summer activity, but add some snowshoes! Maybe you want to try something new, then grab some cross country skis. All the major ski areas have a Nordic Center, if not two, Nordic ski operations for cross country skiing and snowshoeing on fairly flat trails. Whether you’re in skis or snowshoes -go out and explore all the beautiful terrain Breckenridge offers. You can either hop on a guided tour to learn more about the history behind our mountain town, or rent your own gear to take it at the pace you want.

3 - Tubing

Look up tubing at the Frisco Adventure Center, or enjoy one of the free sledding hills in town.

4 - Mushing

Hop on a sled and let the huskies do the hard work for you. Good Times Adventures offers dog sledding tours where you can be the leader of the pack and “mush” the pups, or sit back and relax in the sleigh. We'll get you dialed in on what all your dog sledding adventure wedding or elopement will entail. But, you can wear one of those furry hats if you like.

5 - Explore Local Eateries and Brews

Breckenridge offers plenty of world class dining to fulfill your appetite after all your adventures. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite, or some finer dining for your elopement dinner, Breckenridge has it all. Take a stroll around town after to check out some local Brews in the area. When it comes to beer and spirits, the made-in-Breckenridge trend began in the ‘90s with the original Breckenridge Brewery.

6 - Check out Downtown

There is so much to do as you stroll downtown Breckenridge. Unique shops, local cafés, the historic district, the arts district, family friendly activities like Escape Rooms, and more! This is a great way to adapt to the elevation on your first day - don’t forget the town of Breckenridge sits at 9,600ft. A couple of my favorite shops to checkout are Cabin Fever, Creatures Great & Small, Spice & Tea Merchants, and Underground.
