New Owners for Summit Mountain Weddings

It’s a little surreal for us to call ourselves the newest owners of Summit Mountain Weddings/Breck Weddings/Vail Mountain Weddings, but here we are! Our connection to Breck Weddings goes way back to a Facebook post in November of 2012, when we shared our proposal story on a photo asking what Breckenridge meant to us. We were still living in South Dakota and had just gotten engaged near Snake Creek in Rocky Mountain National Park. We spent the evening driving back to Breckenridge where we celebrated at the sweetest little bed & breakfast, Abbett Placer Inn. The memories of that weekend are forever etched in our hearts and really, it’s when and where began our love affair with Summit County. We later connected with Stacy & Dina Sanchez, the founders of this online space, and shared our full proposal story and film right here on this blog. You can see that post here!
To say this feels very full circle doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Dave brought me to this magical place each time we came back to Colorado, and we vowed that someday, we’d move here and make it our home.
We’ve been in Colorado now for 6 years. In the midst of running two businesses, raising two [almost three - he’ll be joining us in just a couple weeks!] little boys, we’ve settled in here. Our Midwest roots have given way for Colorado hearts. The peace that a sprawling corn field used to bring is now filled by towering pines and mountains. It’s a different world here, but one we’ve embraced wholeheartedly.

While we may be new to ownership of Summit Mountain Weddings specifically, I definitely wouldn’t say we’re new to the wedding industry as a whole. You may recognize us from our other company, Basecamp Visual. There, we focus on films and photos for brands, families, and larger weddings than we do here at SMW. For couples who don’t need the all-inclusive packages we offer here, Basecamp is an incredible place to look to book a photo and/or video only package. I’m shameless, I KNOW. Basecamp allowed us to initially connect and work with Emily, the incredible photographer and heart behind SMW prior to us, too. You’ll see our work with her sprinkled throughout the site. Our many opportunities with Basecamp have brought us to Summit County often and we’ve been so grateful to be able to meet and work with some incredible couples in this area! These are a few of our favorites from this last season.
All that to say, we are SO excited to be here and have another avenue to be a resource to couples choosing to marry in Colorado. We’ve got big dreams for this space and are honestly just feeling really grateful to have this opportunity. We hope for SMW to be not only where couples can come to hire us to help them bring their Colorado elopement ideas to life, but a space about our lives in the Rockies, sharing favorite spots to visit and sites to see, helpful tips, and let’s be honest here - probably too many photos of our boys.
