Rivers and Mountains and an Outdoor Ceremony
Today's post is all about Stephanie + Chris: Riverside Ranch Wedding in Idaho with images courtesy of Cimbalik Photography. We took a bit of a short break for Thanksgiving, and for mountain people who live in resort towns, that means working through the holiday and then taking your break AFTER the true holiday! So, we're a few days behind on posting this, but I'm sure you were busy with friends and family, and perhaps starting to talk about a destination wedding with an outdoor ceremony near mountains and rivers. You could choose Idaho, as this blog shows, and is a beautiful setting. And, that's why decided to share this one with you, because of its unique mountain setting.
Destination Weddings in the Mountains
You won't find a big red barn like this in Breck, so if this is your thing, then you better go with a destination event in Idaho. Otherwise, if the Colorado Rocky Mountains are your thing, then that's where we come in. We're actually getting contacted by quite a few couples right now, and some are asking if they can subtract or add some things from some of our advertised wedding packages. Yes, is the answer. We put those up as examples, and then we go in and figure out what works best for each couple. Please contact us to learn more, and thanks for stopping by and checking out this blog!
This beautiful riverside wedding took place on a pristine fall day in the beautiful, picturesque mountains of McCall, Idaho. The amount of love that was floating around was quite indescribable. There was so much love between Stephanie and Chris as well as everyone's love for the couple. It was one of those weddings that you simply felt honored to have a part in. Stephanie and Chris are such a great couple. They paid so much attention to every detail of their wedding. Kim Carley from Cypress Events did a wonderful job coordinating the event! From the emotional first look on the bridge, to the crazy dancing and divine late night munchies from Horsewood Catering, this wedding was everything you would want your wedding to be. Brimming with love, laughter and fun!

Fall Wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado
Today's post is all about Alison + Aaron: Fall Breckenridge Wedding at the Lodge and Spa with images courtesy of Timothy Faust Photography. We have worked with Tim over the years when we owned Petal and Bean, and it's no surprise to find his images on our blog. He does great work, and we're happy to share these images with you. You won't be disappointed in your images if you get to work with Tim. And, he's a Breck local, so he knows the best spots to catch the light around town. That's the beauty of working with locals. But, any good photographer will be able to anticipate light and make the best of what situation and setting they're in. That's what makes them professional. Ask us about creating a package with Tim or another local Summit County photographer.
Destination Wedding Venue: Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge
The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge is found along the old railway, Boreas Pass, and overlooks the Blue River valley. It has one of the largest decks around, and it's perfect for outdoor ceremonies. And, if it's blustery out, you can always opt to have the ceremony inside. Panoramic views await you if you choose this spot as your venue. But, if this one is already booked, and you're looking for another, then please contact us to create a custom package, where we'll guide you on the best spot that will suit your wants and needs. Thanks for stopping by, and checking out our blog!
I have known Alison for almost ten years. She had worked for the American Cancer Society which I volunteered to photograph their Hope on the Slopes Fundraiser in Breckenridge, Colorado for several years. I was delighted when she asked me to photographer her wedding this year. Alison and Aaron had a beautiful fall wedding on the back deck of the Lodge at Breckenridge overlooking the Ten Mile Range and Bald mountain. It was a gorgeous place for all the guests to watch the sunset from.

Rainy Day Engagements
Today's post is all about Alisha + Jonathan: Rainy Day Engagement in North Carolina with images courtesy of Eleveneleven Films and Photography. I spent a summer in North Carolina and it has some wonderful hills and terrain that are worthy of this blog, which is why you're looking at this dramatic set of images. The contrast and muted colors are striking and invoke a certain emotion that's raw and powerful.
I liked how the couple wandered through the woods throughout the shoot. It reminded me of my wife and I as we wander through the trees in search of hidden spots and off-the-beaten path locations. Curiosity is definitely part of what keeps me going out exploring, and I'm lucky to have a partner with that same drive. It makes for fun exploring! If we would have had engagement photos (we didn't), this is what I would have gone for. Something super cool like these. I hope you like them as much as I did.
Destination Photography for Engagements, Elopements and Weddings
So, if you're in the market for a certain style of photographer, know that each has their own way of story telling. We share lots of different styles on this blog, but if you don't have the time to sift through it all, then contact us to learn how we can help you save time and money and plan something fun. We are the Rocky Mountain romance specialists and are based in Breck. Please tell us more about what you have in mind so far, and where you need some help. Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Alisha and Jonathan have been together for about six years, but their love burns brighter than ever, even in the POURING rain. These guys watched the the dark, rain clouds coming over the horizon, and still said "let's do it." Alisha and Jonathan climbed stumps and rocks and boulders, and trudged through the mud that surrounds Rattlesnake Lake without a complaint. These guys are used to exercise, because they actually met and fell in love in a gym. After repeatedly asking her out, Alisha finally said yes and they have been together ever since. Grab a warm drink and try not to get too cold watching these guys freeze by the lake!
Donovan Pavilion Wedding in Vail
Today's post is all about Megan + Andrew: Fall Mountain Wedding in Vail, Colorado with images courtesy of TMDexter Photography. The fall colors are in full effect right now, and if you are planning a fall wedding elopement, you can still have these kinds of photos on your big day. We're working with a couple right now, putting together an Independence Pass wedding for a family out of the Roaring Fork Valley and Aspen area. It's been a lot of fun seeing all the summer weddings, but there's just something about fall and the hillsides exploding with color. Wildflowers are just too small to see at a distance, unless you have big patches, in which case, they're spectacular. I've written posts before regarding wildflower hikes near Breck, so click here to check it out and make a plan for next summer.
Beaver Creek and Vail Weddings
We're also busy planning a winter wedding in the Beaver Creek area of the Vail Valley. It's quite the creative process to bring out each couple's personal style into an event that is unique to them. That's why this blog is here, to inspire you for your Colorado mountain wedding, and if you need help, we can put together some details that you don't need to waste time doing if you're spinning your wheels because you don't anything about the area. It also takes time to sort through all the various websites and screen vendors. We recommend only the people we think would do the best job for you. We know lots of vendors and venues, and if we have the answer to your problem, we're here to help you figure it out and create a custom wedding package that's everything you need and nothing you don't. Please contact us to learn more, and thanks for reading!
Andrew and I met while both in Los Angeles: he, having formerly pursued the acting life, and I, busy dancing professionally. Our mutual artistic friend thought we should meet because we were both on the way to New York City: Andrew for graduate school, and I for my dreams of dancing on the Great White Way. We met on Andrew’s last day in LA at his going away party and clicked immediately. Not only were we coming from the same place and going to the same place, but we had also been attending the same mega-church for months! We definitely caught each other’s attention, and that was only the beginning... Nine months later…our engagement story took place in Washington D.C., where Andrew and I had gone for the weekend after nine months of dating in New York. When we first got out of the car, we came to a fountain where I made a secret wish that we would get engaged. He had planned a romantic day to commemorate our milestone: lunch on the harbor, kayaking on the river, and the fourth of July fireworks! After the fireworks, we arrived back at the hotel where champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries were waiting. I thought the special treatment was in celebration of our nine month occasion, but, before I knew it, he was on his knee telling me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It was a dream—and a wish—come true!
I had always wanted an outdoor fall wedding in Colorado with the beautiful colors of the aspen trees turning. Since we had begun our romance in October and met for our first date by the pumpkins, I knew that I wanted to incorporate that into our theme. We arranged our wedding to be in the fall in the Rocky Mountains, and it could not have been more gorgeous! I decided to use individual mini pumpkins for each place setting and purchased a load of them, spray painting the tops gold to match our colors. As part of the centerpieces for our seven guest tables, I designed seven picture descriptions to match the different destinations from our love story: LA, New York, etc. As guests were assigned to seating at their respective cities (tables), they had a chance to see a picture of us in that specific place with words about how it played into our story as a couple. We also spent time designing our invitations and programs and cake to feature the aspen leaf, and the guest book, pen, and ring pillow I found tied into our theme of leaves and fall colors as well. Our cake had the letters A & M written in fondant to make a special stamp with our initials. Not only did everyone love the aesthetic design of our cake, but we chose a fall flavor of “Pumpkin Cardamom Cake with Caramel and Cream Cheese Frosting” that was enjoyed by all. Many were also touched by a slideshow that Andrew put together with the photos from our courtship that was played during at the end of the toasts. Finally, as finishing favor for our guests, I had assembled packages of s’more ingredients for “S’more love from the bride and groom” to take with them. Personalizing our wedding took some extra thought and time, but it was definitely worth the effort to make it our own—and all the more special.
My favorite part of the wedding was standing at the altar between the golden aspens and having the peace that we had finally arrived at our wedding day. As we stood, hand in hand, the pastor delivered his message and the sun streamed through the trees, perfectly shining God’s glory and illuminating the joy in our hearts to be together forever.

Fall Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in the Vail Valley
Today's post is all about Katherine + Shaun: Colorado Mountain Wedding at the Vail Racquet Club with images by Katie Keighin Photography. The weather gods cooperated with beautiful weather before a clear tent awaited at the venue. You never know what's going to happen, so I'm glad to see that the day went smooth, and I'm able to share them with you today. It looks simple enough, but you know that there was plenty of thought and effort going into those moments on the hillside. From the chairs to the hair, there are details that take time. And, how much time do you have? Please contact us to learn more about how we can help you work with vendors you find on our blog and help you find those that you'll be needing later on.
Vail Racquet Club Colorado Wedding Reception
Big venues are absolutely great for convenience and packages that include room, food and lodging. Vail and Beaver Creek have lots of options for upscale lodging and venues, and we've planned destination weddings for those areas, and we love the Vail Valley. Most know Vail for its back bowls and epic skiing, but it's an absolute summer paradise that's filled with wildflowers, creeks and trails begging to be explored. Take the gondola up and ride or walk down. Or, ride it back down and head to the village to explore the shops and have a nice lunch in one of the many restaurants. We appreciate all the photographers sharing their images with us, and we look forward to sharing more soon! Thanks for stopping by.
We met as clueless college kids working at a local bar on campus. We were friends for a while at first, and we didn't really hit it off until we went on a Halloween party bus with all of our coworkers. Shaun told his buddy he was going to marry Kat after that party bus.Fast forward a few years of graduations, long distance, and steady dating and we moved in together in a tiny studio in Denver Colorado. It was our first time living together and apart from all of our family and friends. After 3 years of dating, Shaun made the decision to move their relationship forward. He planned an engagement and an engagement party with Kat's friends while keeping it all a secret from her. Shaun proposed to Kat while on a hike in Golden Colorado, and completely took her by surprise. A few weeks later all of our friends came out for an engagement ski party in Vail and we had the most amazing time celebrating with our favorite people. We couldn't imagine getting married without our closest friends and family standing there with us, which is how we ended up with 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen. We may have had the largest wedding party in the world, but it was well worth it. Our wedding day was honestly the greatest day of our lives, and we couldn't be more grateful for this adventure we've been on for the last 4+ years together.

First Look at the Maroon Bells
Today's post is all about Tai + Stephen: Fall Wedding in Aspen, Colorado with images courtesy of J. La Plante Photo. The Roaring Fork Valley is a classic place to visit with the iconic Maroon Bells as a favorite backdrop for couples in the area. There are then options for using traditional facilities, such as this couple did, for the reception or you can opt for a private home rental as part of the festivities for the week. Be sure to consider spending some time going up to Independence Pass and the Grottos for a few photos and some trail time.
Aspen Meadows Resort Reception
Hotels are an easy choice when it comes to reception, as they come with lots of amenities and posh options. The Aspen Meadows Resort, described as "Chic, Bauhaus-style resort with an outdoor heated saline pool" was the gathering place for family and friends to enjoy the evening. The golden leaves were shining in the sun and it looks like it was a beautiful day. But, that isn't always the case.
If no one's told you how often it rains during the summer, then let me be the first to give you fair warning. Typical afternoons have brief, yet intense, bouts of rain and clouds. Clouds make for great pics, so don't worry. Just talk it out with your team about alternatives if you need to adhere to a strict timeline. If there's some flexibility, extend cocktail hour, or just go for it with a few umbrellas being held by the maid of honor and best man.
Custom Colorado Wedding and Elopement Packages
Please contact us to learn more about how we can continue to share our expertise and experience when you choose one of our packages. Most are customized or tweaked a bit, so don't worry if you don't see one that's not the exact match for what you need. Everyone's day is usually different from others. Thanks for reading!
Tai and Stephen couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for their wedding. The aspens were in full color contrasting brilliantly with the red in the peaks and Maroon Bells and the dazzlingly blue Colorado sky. With the wedding details adding a pop of purple, Tai's favorite color, the result was a vividly colorful fall wedding in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Tai and Stephen customized their ceremony and reception with lots of personal details to make the day truly their own.
From the couple: "We love puzzles so tried to include that as a theme along with the beauty of fall in Aspen. The escort cards were 12 piece puzzles with a different picture of the couple on each table. Their guest book was a custom wooden jigsaw puzzle. Stephen hand drew the ketubah that included many personal details and a custom text meaningful to the couple.
We had our first look and signed the ketubah at Maroon Bells which is Tai's favorite place in the world. We created a modified version of the Jewish seven blessings to include in our ceremony and asked seven of our friends to participate by reading the different blessings."The first dance was very memorable as we created a custom dance to the Crystals 'Then He Kissed Me.' We surprised many family and friends as they were not expecting this from two introverts. We enjoyed the super blood moon total eclipse - an occurrence that won't happen again until 2033."
