5 Style Ideas For the Modern + Trendy Colorado Bride

You’ve already decided to kick a traditional wedding to the curb and do things your way - so why not take it a few steps further and really bring your naturally cool girl vibe to the day? We’re sharing some ideas for how to look your best and still feel like yourself on your wedding day.

The biggest takeaway we want you to get from all this, though? You do you.

  • rock a floral hat!

While definitely a sucker for a big, wild bridal bouquet, why don’t you skip that tradition, too and have one of our designers create a piece to wrap around your favorite hat! Super cute, sexy, and a fun way to stand out from the traditional bride. What’s more - it doesn’t even have to be white. In fact, we’d love if it wasn’t! Add some spice to your day, and let’s all agree to bring back some color into the wedding world.

1. skip the bouquet and put your flowers on a hat instead!

2. Don’t be afraid to wear a dress you feel sexy in!

  • wear a dress that makes you feel sexy.

Honestly! I’m going to say this as gently as I can - you are lovely and incredible, and you don’t need to wear a dress that is just “appropriate” for getting married in. If you’re eloping with us, you’ll likely say you vows in a cathedral of pines or with the mountains as your sanctuary. The rules of the wedding day are long gone and if you want to rock something with a deep V that shows off your tattoos, darnit, you should do it!

Extra plus: You can rent this exact dress, the maeve, ^^^ for your wedding day. cool right? Email us for more details.

3. wear that hair down!

  • skip the updo.

Hey, I’m not bashing on updos - I wore one for our own wedding! But here’s the truth, wearing my hair down would’ve been so much more ME. You should feel like yourself on your wedding day. A beautiful, bridal version of yourself, but yourself, nonetheless. Do bobby pins freak you out? Has your neck never even seen light from always being covered by your hair? If yes, just do you and wear it down. Not only will you feel your best because you’ll be comfortable, but it’ll look incredible in the wind and when the sun shines through it.

*Pro tip: if you’re going to wear your hair down, opt for a matte lipstick as opposed to anything glossy. You don’t want to be unsticking your hair from your lips all day, do ya?

  • boots, boots, boots!

When we suggest to brides to wear comfortable shoes or boots for their wedding day, we don’t necessarily mean that they have to be hiking boots. Though, I will say this, if we have an actual hike planned to get up to your ceremony site or portrait session location, don’t shy away from actual hiking boots. Your feet will thank you, you won’t hurt yourself, and guys, they look so cute! But, back to it - you can opt for sexy boots, too! Like these >>>

  • accessorize with blankets, a sweater, or a fun jacket.

With the temperatures beginning to drop, it’s important to be prepared for anything on your wedding day. Bring along your favorite leather jacket or chunky sweater, or our current favorite - a big faux fur blanket. Not only will you be able to cozy up in between shots, you’ll also look so incredible doing it we’ll sneak some images then, too. They just may become some of your favorites.

No matter what looks you decide to rock for your Colorado elopement, the biggest pieces of advice we give to all of our couples is to be themselves.
