Inspiration: Colorado Country Wedding Style

Colorado offers endless landscapes with mountains, greenery + ranches. Inspiration comes in all forms. Colorado Country Weddings are a consistent, timeless theme that, when done right, brings just the right amount of comfort and class to a wedding. For those considering a big wedding on a ranch or even a small Colorado mountain elopement, find your Colorado Country inspiration!

LOCATIONS + BACKDROPS

The country: we seek it to get away, to relax, rejuvenate and be closer to nature. In choosing a ceremony and/or reception location, consider places that really speak to you. Find a sense of calm in the wide open, imagine strolling through an open field with your new hubby after saying, "I do." Consider your wedding photos: does the sun set in the right place? Are there lots of corners and views to work with? Expansive vistas and lush greenery create an environment that will naturally awe your guests.

Of course, old, rustic barns and - even better - big red barns always do the trick, too! Exchanging vows on a farm or ranch? Find a chicken, alpacas or some horses nearby and have some real fun with your photographer!

Bride + Groom Style

Gentlemen: suspenders. Need I say more? Oh - and bow ties! A classic look that helps pull it all together, without the need for a heavy or formal jacket. To stand out just a bit, grooms look extra dapper (and adorable) in a vest. Keep it casual with some matching Chucks, or go for it with the cowboy boots.

Ladies: throw on some boots, too, especially if your dress is short enough to show them off! Lace dresses offer a beautiful texture to your overall style. Don't be afraid to kick it up a notch, though - going country doesn't necessarily mean giving up the glam!

Details + Decor

This is where it all comes together, literally. From ceremony details like personalized directional signs and tree trunks leading the way down the aisle, to effortless wildflower centerpieces or sunflower arrangements, find your style preference and run with it. The key? KISS: Keep It Simple... Silly! Remember, your location should speak for itself; your details + decor will just help bring a pop of color and personality unique to your day.

Reception Ideas

Whew! Now that you've finished the hard part, sit back and relax during the reception. Details go a long way here, too. Consider unique place card holders and table decor. Antlers in a centerpiece? Why not? Most importantly, bring the indoors outside by creating a space that guests can enjoy all night. Self-serve beverage stations keep your costs low; a distressed bar or lounge area keeps your guests entertained outdoors; and fire pits! Mother Nature has a sense of humor in Colorado, so stay warm after the sun disappears next to a cozy fire. Bonus if you bring out s'mores!

Dessert!

I don't know about you, but this might be my favorite part of a wedding (truth). My dad loves nothing more than a white wedding cake at a reception. Lately, though, the simplicity of country weddings brings with it some less-traditional (and just as scrumptious) options for dessert. Individual servings of macarons or cupcakes can still be classed up with the right presentation. Did somebody say pie? What's more country than pie for your wedding dessert? Sorry, Dad, no white wedding cake tonight!

In a nutshell: find warm, natural light; sentimental locations are a great place to start your search. Go subtle with decorations, and keep them all in a similar style. Remember to stay true to you. And? Keep it simple
