The mountains are a sacred place to many people.  And to some, it is the place where they want to exchange their vows and move on to the next stage of their life.  One magnificent location is called Sapphire Point, and is perched above scenic Lake Dillon on Swan Mountain Road, between Breckenridge and Keystone.

Q. Who would you say was helpful in planning your wedding?

A." I would say that I had a great amount of help from Emily Campbell of Bella Design and Planning.  She was instrumental in finding the perfect location for our ceremony and guiding us through the necessary steps to get a park permit for the space and what time would be optimal for photos. She also helped me with finding and scheduling a hair appointment in Breckenridge, and making recommendations for dinner locations after our ceremony."

Q. Why did you choose the Rocky Mountains as your wedding location?

A. "Being in the wedding industry and working with brides every day, I really wanted to do something different - a spin on the destination wedding.  The idea of all that white snow really spoke to me in a way that a beach wedding never could - and I LOVE the sun."

Here we see the Groom taking a moment to himself with the Ten Mile Range as the dramatic mountain range to the south.  The Gore Range starts in Frisco and continues north past Silverthorne and goes further west into the Vail Valley.  A scenic trail loops around back to the parking lot, is less than a mile long, and is very family friendly.

You can't totally block off access to the trail for your wedding, so be prepared to smile at the folks just on a hike as you have your ceremony.  I would think most people would be respectful and keep quiet.  It's the critters there you have to worry about.  They've been fed regularly and aren't too shy at times, so be on the watch for some unexpected guests at your wedding!

"All of our photos were from Nate Zander - and he did a great job of capturing the day for us."

"I love the photo that we used on our announcement as well as the shot of us with our heads together at the top of the mountain."

Q.  Anything you would like to share with brides planning their winter wedding in the mountains?

A. "Some of the things that I wish other brides had shared with me were how to bring some flowers into my wedding.  Atop a mountain it is difficult to have a bouquet or any sort of delicate flower.  I wish I had some more ideas - I actually called you* on a recommendation from Emily, but you affirmed my suspicion that flowers wouldn't really hold up."

"Having a fur jacket was a MUST for me and I loved the faux fur one that I found.  So many brides wear them for winter wedding and I think they are stunning!"
