[ How to ] Get Inspired to Create a Wedding Website

Technology is inspiring culture shifts, and that includes how we talk about our weddings. Today's couples are using many different ways to share their announcement, engagement photos, and now everybody has a wedding website or Facebook page to let everyone know what's going on.  You could even create a private group on Minigroup, so your wedding info isn't on Facebook.

There are many ways to do a wedding website.  Today's blog is about highlighting some of the real sites that are being used today by real couples.   The Dessy Group has created a way for folks to nominate wedding websites to appear on this site, which happens to show not only one site, but the best of all the sites that provide this capability.

So, head on over to The Perfect Couple to browse through real wedding websites that couples are using to share the information about the big day.  Which website are you using?  Please comment below, so we know what our readers are using!  Thanks for reading and we hope this helps you determine where and how to share your wedding details.

[ Vendor ] Studio Kiva Photography // Winter Wedding Photo Shoots at the Ice Castles In Silverthorne: Part Two

A blue Toyota Tacoma with a rack on it pulls up in front of the barn and out pops a blonde girl I know that shoots weddings in the mountains around Breckenridge and Summit County, Colorado. I  talked with Breckenridge-based photographer Katie Girtman of Studio Kiva and she told me she's wrapping up the winter wedding season with a bunch of new photographs from what she's calling "Adventure Wedding Photo Sessions."    You can see Part One of this two part series by clicking here.

Some of Katie's adventure weddings this past season included downhill / at-the-resort skiing, dog sledding, horseback riding, and at the new Ice Castles in Silverthorne.   She told me that "many couples are finding that they would like to add some fun and adventure into their wedding day as well as doing some of the traditional things. This makes their photos stand out and be different than the more traditional ways of the past. After all, they're coming out to the mountains for the beauty and what the mountains have to offer, so what a great way to have some beauty and fun all in one."

We talked more about how important it was to try to find vendors that know the venues and areas intimately and can produce the best results.  Katie says that, "this is where a photographer can really help make this day happen. We feel a big part of our job is to figure out and plan ahead of time, to get out there and scout for the great locations for photographing on the wedding day.  This is how we ran into the Ice Castles in Silverthorne, by thinking what a great backdrop this would be for some of our winter weddings. We are always striving for finding new locations and adventures that are off-the-beaten path.  As an artist, this is our job to think outside the box."

We talked about all the fun ideas we could throw together for some adventurous couples.  Whatever your mountain passion is, we are the real mountain wedding pros that will follow you around mountains, down rivers and on trails that cross our alpine majesty.  Katie finishes by saying, "wanting something a little different? Couples these days, want to show who they are as a couple with there personality and styles. We are seeing this with where their having the personalized wedding ceremonies, styles of flowers, dresses, and locations they pick. What better way to show it than photographing and documenting the day with a little adventure?  We would love to help with your style of wedding!"

I'd say that's a good idea.  Give Katie a buzz and tell her you saw the Ice Castles blog on Summit Mountain Weddings and that you want to plan an adventure wedding photo session!

[HOW TO] Create a Playlist for your Destination Wedding in the Rocky Mountains near Breckenridge, Colorado

Following yesterday's, "Interview with a DJ" I started exploring the multitude of wedding blogs out there, and there are so many great ones!  One that I thought was appropriate was Soundtrack TO I DO, which states in their header image that they are "music advice for the soon to be wed."  Clicking on the "Listen" page, I explored the playlists that she has created and can see the great potential in this new technology from Playlist.com that you could use to create your own playlist.

Now, whether you decide to employ a professional DJ or entertainer is very much a personal choice, you can still create your list and then share it with the DJ to use as a reference for your style and taste, or you can use the direct playlist itself.  You could also create playlists for any traveling, rehearsal dinners, or just hanging around the house.  We love music and having the right background beats can make or break the moment, in my opinion anyway.

When you rollover the "About" tab and explore "The Soundtrack" this great image pretty much says it all.  Your wedding, your music, and then your playlist!  Please share any playlists you make with us and we'll share it on our blog with pics from the day.

I know a few songs I would put in looking back, but I did have some classical music picked out for my wife to walk down the aisle to.  However, there was a technicial difficulty.  We'll save that for another post...
