Winter Park, Colorado Destination Wedding

Today's post is all about Juliana + Derrick: Winter Park Wedding at the Lodge at Sunspot with images courtesy of Corrie B Photography LLC, submitted via Two Bright Lights. Most of you probably have heard of having a destination wedding in Breckenridge or Vail, but Winter Park is another great choice for mountain resort nuptials. It's an awesome mountain to explore during the winter, and an exciting location for Rocky Mountain romance.

Colorado Mountain Towns and Ski Resorts

Some weddings happen in the valley or base areas of the ski resorts. Other times, couples can choose to have guests transported via gondola or chairlift to a mid-mountain or top of mountain venue or location. Just be aware of potential weather impacts on that transportation. What I mean is that the Breckenridge gondola and chairlifts will stop running when lightning is present. Discuss the different scenarios of delays and anything that could affect a timeline you create. With enough foresight and planning, contingency plans will be on standby, ready for action if need be. That's where having a day-of coordinator or full-on wedding planner on hand. We know individuals and companies with experience and integrity, so if you need pairing with one of those, we can create a custom wedding package that includes whatever kind of wedding planning help you'll need. Please contact us to learn more about how we can help you best. Thanks for reading!

Juliana and Derrick picked the most beautiful spot for their Winter Park weekend wedding last summer. The air was cool up on the mountain for the morning, but warmer down below. By the time the ceremony began, the sun was out warming the guests and creating a most delightful experience. The Lodge at Sunspot is not only a warm safe haven in the winter to grab a cup of hot cocoa after a long skiing run, but it turns out to be an amazing wedding venue in the summer as well.I had the honor of playing with Juliana and Derrick all day long. They decided on a “First Look” which made for a fun and relaxed day where we could get all the shots they wanted, and then some!

That’s every photographer’s dream. We rode the ski lift up to the beautiful landing earlier in the day for some special moments and alone time for Juliana and Derrick. It was so fun to see all the decorations and details before everyone got up there. These two clearly enjoy life. They had smiles all day long! When we got to the top of the mountain, Juliana and Derrick began to explore all their hard work set up and ready for the ceremony. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Juliana’s Grandmother made their Chuppah and Derrick made the stand.

Inside the Lodge at Sunspot, every detail was covered by the amazing staff. I had the honor of working with Laura Pearson the day of the wedding. I, hands down, would recommend her in a heartbeat for any bride wanting to enjoy their day and have not a care in the world. Laura had everything under control and was by far the most helpful person to my and my assistant the entire day.

These two love birds brought their dogs to join in on the photos who were dressed to the nines. They loving pups cuddled right into their mama, which she didn’t blink to having them sit with her and her dress. That’s what I love about Juliana and Derrick. Easy going. The Ketubah that Juliana and Derrick signed was absolutely beautiful. I have a particular affinity to this artwork. Trees have always been a piece of my life, and this couple is so lucky to have this stunning piece of art hang in their home. I also love Juliana's unique wedding band. It was made by Derrick's father, which I think is so sweet and special.

Shannon + Dan: Beaver Creek, Colorado Wedding at the Park Hyatt

Beaver Creek, Colorado Summer Wedding

Today's post is all about Shannon + Dan: Beaver Creek, Colorado Wedding at the Park Hyatt with images courtesy of Photography by Jewels. If you would consider Vail is the classic, then Beaver Creek is the hidden gem. Nestled right next to mountain majestic, Vail is huge and a skier's paradise. Beaver Creek is one of my favorites because it has steeps and large aspen trees to ski through. Now, imagine these mountain meccas as a summer playground. The back bowls hold single track that crosses millions of wildflowers. Same for the Beav. A quiet hill, almost all to yourself, but with adventure still. choose to hike or bike and explore these mountains as a possible destination wedding location. Or, for your elopement or vow renewal.

Romantic Destinations in the Rocky Mountains

You see, Colorado mountain towns are built with lots of amenities for our worldly-travelers. We know and understand that it's a central spot for folks from both coasts to fly in from and travel to the mountains in under two hours from Denver International Airport (most days, peak travel times and holidays will always see longer travel times). You could probably figure it all out on your own, or you could hire a full-fledged planner to help you. Sometimes you don't want either of those choices, and that's where we come in. We help you a little or a lot, and you can start by checking out our packages as a starting point for a conversation. Then, we customize to your personal couple style and preferences. We know that one size does not fit all. Please contact us to learn more about how we can help you plan the dream wedding you've been wanting.

Shannon & Dan met in the military and wanted a perfect Colorado mountain wedding. They got just that with perfect weather in Beaver Creek, a stunning backdrop for their day. The Park Hyatt was decorated and lit impeccably, and even though some of the details didn't go quite as they had planned, you would never know it by looking at the pictures. We took full advantage of the setting and lighting and the day ran so smoothly, you'd think it had been rehearsed for months.

Mandy + Ben: Breckenridge, Colorado Wedding at Ten Mile Station

Ten Mile Station Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Today's post is all about Mandy + Ben: Breckenridge, Colorado Wedding at Ten Mile Station with images courtesy of Ardent Photography. Guests drive up a ski area maintenance road that travels across numerous ski runs until they pass the Falcon Chair that services Peak 10. Directly north of the chair load is Ten Mile Station. During the winter it serves as a warm respite and gathering place to sip hot chocolate and eat french fries before heading out again on the slopes. However, during the summer, the slopes are much quieter and therefore a brilliant place to have a destination wedding.

Tremendous views of the Continental Divide lie to the east and provide a romantic setting, only rivaled by the hundreds, if not thousands, of Colorado's state flower, the Columbine, that are to be found near the outdoor deck. Mt. Baldy and Boreas are the dominant mountains in the background and when you're surrounded by family and friends, it just feels like everything is complete. Once your ceremony is finished, you go inside to eat, drink and be merry.

Breckenridge Wedding Venues

This on-mountain venue is a one-of-a-kind in Breckenridge and does book up early. However, don't be discouraged, as the Vail Resorts and wedding planning team, aka Iconic Weddings, offers other choices at the base of Peak's 7, 8 & 9. Please ask for Cat and mention this blog if you seek them out. She's a mountain gal that is the first person you'll want to discuss your options with VR. A lot of other options exist in the area, including luxury private home rentals, which are becoming increasingly popular.

There are numerous property management companies that may or may not have what you're looking for, so if you're short on time and have the desire to hire some help, but may not need a full-fledged planner, then talk to us about our custom wedding packages that guide along the process and if you do need a planner, we can recommend local teams that will be of assistance on the day of and more. Please contact us to learn more about how working with locals who have lived in the area for 20+ years and have worked with over 1,000 weddings, can help you save time and money in the long run. Thanks for reading!

The Scene At Breckenridge Ski Resort's Peak 8 In The Summertime

One addition to the summertime offerings at the base of Peak 8 was a tubing hill. It's no longer there today, but kids still hike up to the remaining patches of snow that cling to the hillsides. Or, you can ride the chairlift to gain a higher perch, and then hike or ride down the slopes.  You can see the alpine slide on the right side of this image.  The new Gold Run coaster is further to the left.   This outside deck is connected to One Ski Hill Place.

Whether you decide to visit our mountains during the winter or summer, you'll have lots of options for adventure waiting for you. You'll just have to decide whether you want face shots or epic singletrack. Either way you can't go wrong.  And if you're kids are too small for either the coaster or alpine slide, you can always take a free scenic gondola ride.  There was a moose spotted yesterday in Cucumber Gulch, Breckenridge's protected wetlands that's part of the Breckenridge Nordic Center.

A short hike will lead you to Josie's cabin, while other trails will connect you with town if you wanted to hike or bike back down to the downtown historic area.  Or, hike up, have lunch, and then take the gondola back down.  Oh, which way to go, which trail to hike, which activity to choose...  Have fun everybody!
