The day after the wedding and event rentals.

The-Day-After-the-Wedding-and-Event-Rentals..jpg

A lot of couples are decorating their weddings with a team of bridesmaids and family members, but sometimes forget to think about the day after the wedding and the event rentals. This is an easy one to overlook, however, on busy weekends, some venues have vendors remove all items from the reception room that night. Is that something you want your guests to be doing at 11 o'clock at night? It takes me about an hour to pack everything up and put it in the car. Then, another hour to drive and unpack. Or, if your venue is flexible, you can send some folks over the next morning to deal with boxes, glassware and leftover flowers.

My suggestion to you is to consider a wedding planner, and to make sure that they will return the next day to grab any items left behind. Not all wedding planners will offer this, as they won't always live in the vicinity of the wedding, and need to return home to tend to families. Ask us how we can help fill in the blanks when it comes to the details like this. It's not hard, but it will take time. We can help figure it out.

New and Eco-friendly Options for Rental Linens, Table Runners and Chargers

After almost twenty years in the wedding and special event industry in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, we have sourced the best, most reliable resources for flowers, linens and whatever else you might be looking for.  Today's blog is just a snippet of what's available for folks wanting to dress up the tablescape.

Linen rentals, chair covers and coordinated floral decor can make a big impact.  It can help carry over the color palette you've chosen and help create the mood with the theme you've decided upon.  Once you've determined your venue, you can then start to consider floral and decor options.

We get requests for quotes on flowers, but one of the first things we ask as a florist, is where the ceremony and reception will be. We love to give suggestions, but every venue has its own look and feel.  Some have high ceilings, which look good with tall centerpieces.  Others have less light and may have lower ceilings.  All of this matters to us.

These photos are just a sampling  of the new items that we were shown this past week.  These close ups are of chargers, which is the base plate where all the other plates are placed.  This consistent piece of tableware will help the branding of your event throughout the evening.

These photos show chargers in many different styles, but only one color.  Please contact us to learn more about tablescapes, linen rentals and these new chargers.

Our linen rep also explained how they now have an eco-friendly line of rental linens available.  Eco-brides looking to incorporate as many green elements as possible now have an option for their green wedding.

We are big believers in the mantra to reduce, reuse and recycle, and decor rentals are a great way to save time and money.  Ask your florist, wedding planner, or event designer what they recommend for linens and tablescapes.  If they don't have the answers you're looking for, then please contact us to help solve your problems.  That's what we're here for!

[VENDOR] Q&A: A Great Time DJ, Professional Entertainment for your Destination Wedding near Breckenridge, Colorado

Copy-of-michele_devries_in_photography-guy-dancing.jpg

Live music was an important part of our Rocky Mountain wedding, and we understand how music helps create the mood of the moment.  You can't have everybody dancing on their feet all night long, but a good set of quality music will complement and enhance the evening even more.  And one sure way to make sure everything goes the best it can is to hire a professional DJ to help entertain, educate and inform your guests of what's going on and where to find what they need.

We asked Erik a few questions about the DJ and music scene at mountain weddings.  We first met Erik waiting for our transport to the wedding at Beano's Cabin at Beaver Creek.  It was a snowcat that we loaded up our flowers, and Erik his DJ equipment.  We chatted for a bit, and have since seen Erik and his crew numerous times over the years.  We recommend you check out his team and be sure to mention the Summit Mountain Weddings blog!

Q:  What's the most memorable moment you've been a part of at a wedding?

A: There are so many great memories all of our DJs have from our events. My favorite moments are when I see family that comes in from across the Globe (In the mountains we entertain at many destination weddings) that haven't seen each other in while. I love to see the way they connect both on and off the dance floor. It really is magical to see our guests have a great time and break down those barriers that can exist in this world where many of us live far removed from many of our friends and family. For that one night it can be magic!

Q: What's three things you would tell a bride when deciding between DJ's?

A:

1. Interview your DJ and make sure it's a great personality match.

2. Don't just shop by cost - this is a once in a lifetime moment! Your DJ can make or break your celebration. Find the right DJ, it's worth the cost.

3. One of our bride's biggest fears is that her DJ will be "cheesy" both in personality and song selection… Don't let this happen to you. Interview, ask questions, call references, it's worth doing your homework… if a company or a DJ has been referred to you from other vendors and venues that you have a good feeling about then that is a great sign that you are heading in the right direction.

Q: What's your favorite "get'em dancin' - pack the dance floor'" song?

A: 'Dynamite' Tiao Cruz or 'Raise Your Glass' Katy Perry lately … but really it depends on the crowd… I always ask our brides for advice on what they think their friends and family will like, figure out what music they are connecting with and then go further in that direction to bring the energy on the dance floor to the next level… It's about what songs make that particular crowd feel like celebrating on the dance floor.

Q:  Any particular ethnic style of dance you think is most interesting to watch?

A: To be honest I wish all my clients were Jewish! The hora is a certain party starter every time!

Q: What's on your ipod now?

My I-pod is packed with a huge selection of music… I love it all!

[HOW TO] have a pontoon parade on Lake Dillon as part of your adventure wedding in Rockies.

IMGP2652.jpg

When planning your Rocky Mountain wedding in Summit County, Colorado you can incorporate a water experience into your options with a rafting trip, fly fishing experience or even a pontoon parade.  Yes, that's exactly what we did for our friends and family.  We had our ceremony near the Frisco Bay Marina, and decided against the family kayaking chaos we envisioned and went with the pontoon parade idea.

Our pontoons were rented from the Frisco Bay Marina. | photo[AllysiaAngus]

Just after the ceremony, we boarded reserved pontoons (a must) and headed out towards the center of the lake through the islands.  We still remember my cousin, Glen, wearing his bluetooth opening up the throttle on the pontoon trying to pass us.  Our pontoon putt putt quickly turned into a scene from Miami Vice as I wondered who was so important that might call that warranted sporting a bluetooth earpiece.

Looking back, I'm glad we were able to share the experience of being on the water in the mountains with our friends and family.  We did get a big wave from a passing Sheriff's boat put enough water in the front of our pontoon that we thought we might be swimming for a second!  We drained our shoes and wore flip flops the rest of the night!

Eye protection is very important. He's also wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and sunscreen (SPF 60). | photo[AllysiaAngus]
