Rivers and Mountains and an Outdoor Ceremony
Today's post is all about Stephanie + Chris: Riverside Ranch Wedding in Idaho with images courtesy of Cimbalik Photography. We took a bit of a short break for Thanksgiving, and for mountain people who live in resort towns, that means working through the holiday and then taking your break AFTER the true holiday! So, we're a few days behind on posting this, but I'm sure you were busy with friends and family, and perhaps starting to talk about a destination wedding with an outdoor ceremony near mountains and rivers. You could choose Idaho, as this blog shows, and is a beautiful setting. And, that's why decided to share this one with you, because of its unique mountain setting.
Destination Weddings in the Mountains
You won't find a big red barn like this in Breck, so if this is your thing, then you better go with a destination event in Idaho. Otherwise, if the Colorado Rocky Mountains are your thing, then that's where we come in. We're actually getting contacted by quite a few couples right now, and some are asking if they can subtract or add some things from some of our advertised wedding packages. Yes, is the answer. We put those up as examples, and then we go in and figure out what works best for each couple. Please contact us to learn more, and thanks for stopping by and checking out this blog!
This beautiful riverside wedding took place on a pristine fall day in the beautiful, picturesque mountains of McCall, Idaho. The amount of love that was floating around was quite indescribable. There was so much love between Stephanie and Chris as well as everyone's love for the couple. It was one of those weddings that you simply felt honored to have a part in. Stephanie and Chris are such a great couple. They paid so much attention to every detail of their wedding. Kim Carley from Cypress Events did a wonderful job coordinating the event! From the emotional first look on the bridge, to the crazy dancing and divine late night munchies from Horsewood Catering, this wedding was everything you would want your wedding to be. Brimming with love, laughter and fun!

Couple Skis to Wedding Ceremony in Breckenridge
Today's post is all about Angela + Chris: Bride and Groom Ski to Wedding Ceremony in Breckenridge with images courtesy of Timothy Faust Photography. This bride and groom chose to take a few runs and enjoyed the snow at the Breckenridge Ski Resort before joining friends and family at the base village area. What a way to celebrate the day!
Destination Adventures for Colorado Weddings and Elopements
A few years we decorated a wedding venue at the base of the slopes. It was an 8am ceremony, which means we were on site at 6 am setting up. That made for an extremely early morning of getting up, going to the shop and then loading and unloading. All in time for the 8am start! And, afterwards the couple and family went skiing. Now, that's a great way to have a destination wedding in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Whether you want to ski to your wedding, or after your wedding, it's up to you. We're here to help you see it through. Please contact us to learn more about how we can customize a wedding package that is matched with photographers who can ski or ride with you, and others who are seasoned mountain wedding professionals and can anticipate the inclement weather and variables. Thanks for stopping by!
Chris and Angie had a really fun idea for a wedding: ski down from the top of Breckenridge Ski Area together to their ceremony at Mountain Thunder Lodge. Finding a photographer who was willing and able to go on that adventure with them could have been a challenge, so I am really glad they gave me a call.

Fall Wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado
Today's post is all about Alison + Aaron: Fall Breckenridge Wedding at the Lodge and Spa with images courtesy of Timothy Faust Photography. We have worked with Tim over the years when we owned Petal and Bean, and it's no surprise to find his images on our blog. He does great work, and we're happy to share these images with you. You won't be disappointed in your images if you get to work with Tim. And, he's a Breck local, so he knows the best spots to catch the light around town. That's the beauty of working with locals. But, any good photographer will be able to anticipate light and make the best of what situation and setting they're in. That's what makes them professional. Ask us about creating a package with Tim or another local Summit County photographer.
Destination Wedding Venue: Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge
The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge is found along the old railway, Boreas Pass, and overlooks the Blue River valley. It has one of the largest decks around, and it's perfect for outdoor ceremonies. And, if it's blustery out, you can always opt to have the ceremony inside. Panoramic views await you if you choose this spot as your venue. But, if this one is already booked, and you're looking for another, then please contact us to create a custom package, where we'll guide you on the best spot that will suit your wants and needs. Thanks for stopping by, and checking out our blog!
I have known Alison for almost ten years. She had worked for the American Cancer Society which I volunteered to photograph their Hope on the Slopes Fundraiser in Breckenridge, Colorado for several years. I was delighted when she asked me to photographer her wedding this year. Alison and Aaron had a beautiful fall wedding on the back deck of the Lodge at Breckenridge overlooking the Ten Mile Range and Bald mountain. It was a gorgeous place for all the guests to watch the sunset from.

Whistler, British Columbia Mountain Elopement
Today's post is all about Amy + Adam: Rainbow Mountain Helicopter Elopement in Whistler, British Columbia with images courtesy of matdivad photography. This mountain top wedding is simply amazing and had to be shared. We get couples looking for unique ideas to celebrate their love, and only a handful of operations use helicopters in Colorado. I've driven through British Coumbia, but was much further north, putting my truck on a ferry to Juneau. The forest is a rainforest and is super wet, creating heavy maritime snows for resorts in the Pacific Northwest. If you love mountains as much as we do, you'll make the trip sometime to explore a moss-covered landscape mixture of mountains and ocean. It's so beautiful and worth it.
Adventure Weddings and Destination Elopements
You could actually get married in Colorado, and then head north to explore. Or, vice versa. Either way, if you the adventurous type and wants suggestions for planning a Colorado elopement or small wedding, then please contact us to learn if we can help you put together a custom wedding package. Some brides and grooms are mountain people are up for backcountry adventures as part of their wedding. Others are more urban and want refined luxuries, but with a mountainous setting. We know of great options for those, and we'd love to help you if you need it. Scroll the blog and then let us know what your dream day looks like.
Amy and Adam are true adventurists and wanted to get married in their own element. They spend vast amounts of time up in the mountains so it only makes sense for them to get married up there! They had a beautiful ceremony with some very touching vows to each other followed by a portrait session on the mountain.
Iceland Engagement Photography
Today's post is all about Svala + Johanh: Iceland Engagement Photography in Reykjavik with images courtesy of Sotiris Tsakanikas Photography. This Greece-based photographer describes this couple and their shoot in broken English, but hey, that's much better than we could write in Greek, so many thanks to Sotiris for sharing his images with our mountain wedding blog. We have dreamed of going to Iceland to explore the mountains, and this post only makes us want to go even more. This dramatic landscape is surreal and definitely belongs on this blog, as we are sure that a few of our couples have the same wanderlust for mountains around the world like we do. That's why you're seeing a series of posts of mountain weddings and mountain love from around the country and around the world.
Destination Mountain Engagements and Elopements
Breckenridge and Summit County are our specialty, but we hope you contact us if you like what you see here, because Sotiris would be happy to join you on any mountain adventures in Iceland, or Greece for that matter. After a brief email exchange, we discovered that he is based in a town that's nearby to where Dina's father is from. He fled his homeland many years ago, when it was a war torn area. We can understand his wanting to escape conflict and make a better life for his family in the United States, which he did. So, if you are dreaming of an engagement or elopement in Breck, or in the mountains of Greece, we know of a brilliant photographer who can take outstanding photos of you and your love. Please contact us for more information about destination elopements. Thanks for stopping by!
What took me to Reykjavik in the first place was of course ... Love ! Svala and Johanh are a young couple of Icelanders who had me shoot their engagement. Johanh, who has this composed air of regal austerity, is a bit camera shy at first, but it's an Nordic thing as I can tell; Icelanders will graciously allow you into their space, will be excellent hosts and fascinating conversationalists, but when it comes to posing, or standing in front of the camera they do not appear overly excited even if they are. Then Svala, with her milky white complexion and fairy-like, girly beauty approaches, whispering something to his ear, and everything changes; I guess it's no mystery that your woman's ways of making this world a milder place for you are phenomenal. They unwind, they embrace and I am sincerely at a loss for words because their intimacy reminds me of an arcadian ballad, the simple, innocent contentement one finds in fairytales of the North. Their gestures, spotless and effortless have me follow them around as they stroll, it's sort of like a gentle hunt.
Rainy Day Engagements
Today's post is all about Alisha + Jonathan: Rainy Day Engagement in North Carolina with images courtesy of Eleveneleven Films and Photography. I spent a summer in North Carolina and it has some wonderful hills and terrain that are worthy of this blog, which is why you're looking at this dramatic set of images. The contrast and muted colors are striking and invoke a certain emotion that's raw and powerful.
I liked how the couple wandered through the woods throughout the shoot. It reminded me of my wife and I as we wander through the trees in search of hidden spots and off-the-beaten path locations. Curiosity is definitely part of what keeps me going out exploring, and I'm lucky to have a partner with that same drive. It makes for fun exploring! If we would have had engagement photos (we didn't), this is what I would have gone for. Something super cool like these. I hope you like them as much as I did.
Destination Photography for Engagements, Elopements and Weddings

We are the Rocky Mountain romance specialists and are based in Breck. Please tell us more about what you have in mind so far, and where you need some help. Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Alisha and Jonathan have been together for about six years, but their love burns brighter than ever, even in the POURING rain. These guys watched the the dark, rain clouds coming over the horizon, and still said "let's do it." Alisha and Jonathan climbed stumps and rocks and boulders, and trudged through the mud that surrounds Rattlesnake Lake without a complaint. These guys are used to exercise, because they actually met and fell in love in a gym. After repeatedly asking her out, Alisha finally said yes and they have been together ever since. Grab a warm drink and try not to get too cold watching these guys freeze by the lake!
