Bridal Bouquets for Winter Weddings in the CO Rocky Mountains //

Most of the winter brides choose some sort of white combination of flowers to hold.  Every now and then, we see a colorful bouquet come across, but there's just something about an all-white bouquet in the winter.  In the Rocky Mountains.  At your wedding.  That you picked out.

If you're new to the game and want to learn the basics, then read Dina's three-part blog series on How to Plan Your Wedding Flowers.  Be sure to add this blog to your inspiration board on Pinterest by clicking on the pin it button on the top left of this post!  If you need an invite, then please send us a tweet and we'll send one right over.

{ FLOWER MAVEN } Pincushion Protea + Oncidium Orchids // Heat Things Up in Deep Winter with a Tropical Bloom.

"I want a rustic organic look!"  Over the years, brides have expressed wanting to use more unusual flowers.  We have suggested using berries, pods and unusual greens to add an organic feeling to their wedding decor. Protea can add depth and texture to your mountain wedding decor.

Some winter weddings look great in an all-white palette, or a frosty blue hue to reflect the pristine feel that comes with a snowy backdrop like a destination wedding in Breckenridge.  However, there are no rules any more and if you want to try something new and unusual, then we suggest exploring unusual and non-traditional wedding flowers, including the tropical blooms featured here, the Pincushion Protea and the Oncidium Orchid.

How would you use these in a winter wedding?  You can now comment via your Facebook profile, so please let us know what you think of this idea!

{ REAL MOUNTAIN WEDDING } Aly + Matt at Sevens in Breckenridge, Colorado

Looks like Alyson and Matt rolled nothing but lucky seven’s when they chose the intimate and elegant Seven’s Restaurant for their 2011 late summer wedding ceremony and reception!  Seven’s, operated by Vail Resorts / Breckenridge Hospitality is located in the new Grand Lodge at Peak 7, an offering from Breckenridge Grand Vacations, lies at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Peak 7 at 10,010 feet in the Ten Mile Range of Summit County, Colorado.

If you are keeping your list is less than 120 guests, this venue is the perfect choice anytime of year.  With over 300 days of sunshine and 300” of snow a year, there isn’t  really an ugly day on the calendar in the charming town of Breckenridge. The mountains and vast panoramic views take center stage.

Alyson and Matt got super lucky again when it came to the glorious blue skies and just a handful of clouds that happened to pass by for their ceremony.  (Make  sure you have a back up plan for inclement weather as rain is pretty common every afternoon in the high country in the summer.)

Sophisticated, elegant, classic and stunning are the words that come to mind when I was looking through the hundreds of beautiful photos by photographer Rachel Olsen //     Facebook       Twitter        Website

Rachel says "My goal is to be welcomed into your moments, your world and your lives, in order to create photographs that represent the real you. I strive to capture the emotions, interactions and energy shared between individuals, so that when you look at your images you feel as if they are not only pictures, but are impressions of the feelings and moments you share together.'"

Setting the mood in the warm mountain air were the classical trio that played during the ceremony and cocktail hour on the patio and the ultra sleek and modern floral table arrangements by Breckenridge’s own Petal and Bean florists who also hand made the bouquets and boutonnières.

Alyson, Matt and all of their lucky guests were treated to a wedding that won’t soon be forgotten.  The attention to details weren’t over looked either… from the silver ink handwritten name cards, to the pale shades of yellow and orange piped buttercream frosting on the cupcakes.

With a very clean and serene color scheme of grays and blues, Aly and Matt’s wedding took on a very sophisticated feel.  It wasn’t over done, and as they say, sometimes less is more.  Alyson was simply breathtaking in her strapless gown and her long blond hair gently curled and pulled back.

Looking back on her day Alyson said “I really enjoyed having a moment alone  (with her soon to be husband, Matt) before actually getting married.  It made it much more special in the long run.” She also said that in hind sight she wished that she would have prepared her older, out of town guests for the effects of the high altitude. She said “It was very difficult for me to watch my dad struggle with crappy nights of sleep and breathing difficulties.’

Her best advice to couples about to tie the knot: “ SMILE!!!!!  Be happy cause who cares what goes wrong?   It's just a wedding and if you're happy then everyone else will be.  I took a shot of whiskey before leaving the house where I got ready because I knew this was going to be the best day of my life and I wanted to be super relaxed and enjoy it.....and I was and did.  Who couldn't LOVE getting married in the mountains???”

This wedding at the Breckenridge Ski Resort's Ten Mile Station used yellow, blue, green and white for their fresh color scheme.  The bridal bouquet was filled with yellow Sunflowers, white Dahlias, and white Veronica.  It was created by Dina of Creative Flowers Inc | Petal and Bean, a florist in Breckenridge, Colorado.

This Rocky Mountain bride and groom appear in the latest issue of The Knot magazine, and we're gonna love sharing more of this wedding, as there's too many pics to put into just one post!  It's great seeing these events come together, as couples often find us early in the creative process and are overwhelmed with possibility.

In the information form we received, the couple stated that they  "just started planning, so still feeling this out and trying to decide which of the many ideas will win out, but we think it will be simple but elegant and play off the environment around us. I like the idea of trying to tie an outdoorsy, organic feel with some element that reflects our current home in Brooklyn, NY (if that is even possible!). And then I've always loved the idea of having a vintage-inspired wedding."

The bridesmaids bouquets also had yellow Sunflowers, green Kermit Pomps, and white Veronica.  We think they did a great job putting it all together, and really like the contrast between the yellow and blue throughout the event.  You'll see as we show more...
