Vail and Beaver Creek are two famous ski resorts that offer amazing opportunities for Vail Mountain Weddings in the Vail Valley.

Traditional venues are a great choice in venues that offer varieties of group services and amenities. Reserve a block of rooms at a slopeside lodge and enjoy the best that the mountains have to offer. Be sure to ask about peak season dates and when they might be offering specials or discounted rates.

You can walk the hillsides and see the last wildflowers, while finding the first colors of Fall. Rain showers turn into dustings of snow on the highest peaks and imaginations turn back to winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. Ask the locals who work in the hotel where they like to go hiking, and you should be able to find some adventures for the week.

We appreciate all the photographers that have submitted their Colorado Wedding Photography for us to share. Please contact us to learn more about creating a package that includes everything you need and nothing you don't. Or, if you just need a wedding buddy, we offer by the hour planning services with our vendor partner, Petal and Bean.

My God. How awesome are those golden aspens?!? I have had many a lunch on the patio at the Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch (for those who are confused, Bachelor Gulch is a connected mountain to the Beaver Creek ski area… it’s part of the same thing) while skiing the bumps, but I regret to say I have never been there in the Summer or Autumn. To see this amazing hotel without it’s customary layer of thick snow and apre skiers was stunning. Anyway… the hotel is completely different in the warm months, and I adore it for weddings. It’s a very large hotel, but it still feels quite intimate and private, somehow. I think “cozy” is the appropriate word. But posh-cozy. It is The Ritz, after all. Let’s not lose sight of that! ; ) But like all good mountain luxury spots, while it may be The Ritz, there’s still a certain laid-back chill to the place. I think it’s just part of the mountain culture as a whole, at least it was when I was a boy growing up in the high country, skiing my weekends away. I don’t care how fancy you think you are, when you’re in the mountains, you just chill a bit. It’s required. Kelly and Ryan’s wedding took full advantage of all these aspects. It was incredibly polished and posh in the details, the ambiance, the style and the planning, but the vibe was definitely one of pure love, joy and celebration. I mean, it was a cowboy wedding, after all. And we all know that cowboys and cowgirls know how to party. And boy howdy, did they ever.

[ Vendor ] Studio Kiva Photography // Winter Wedding Photo Shoots at the Ice Castles In Silverthorne: Part One

This week, we'll be sharing two couples photographed at this winter wedding wonderland in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  Breckenridge-based photographer Katie Girtman of Studio Kiva, took her destination wedding clients to the Silverthorne Ice Castles for a few photos among the towering ice structures.  This surprise sensation thrust tiny Silverthorne into the spotlight as the ice sculptures were seen on various media channels, in thousands of pictures and even a music video.

Destination weddings in the winter just got an added bonus.  You always had the Ice Sculpting Championships in Breckenridge, but those only last for a month, so only a few weddings get to enjoy the scene.  This option extends the unique winter landscape that will surely make your friends and family's jaw drop when they see them.

Katie says, "It's the new hot thing!  Wedding Dresses in all colors are becoming more and more popular every day."  Exactly.  Sometimes, you just have to go with your gut, make your own style and show your personality through your choice of wedding dress, location, and even style of photography.  Ask us how we can help you plan the winter wedding of your dreams.

[Hindsight 20/20] Groom's advice: Ask for help, so you can enjoy the day.

89120009-630-x-418-copy.jpg

Looking back, all my friends and family coming to Breckenridge for our wedding was a dream come true.  To have everyone together for a few amazing hours was totally worth it.  Relishing the moment and remembering how each person played a role in your life is an indescribable feeling.  You'll know what I mean when you have yours.

This is why it's called SUMMIT COUNTY. | photo[robinjohnsonphoto.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography

We chose to have our wedding on the shore of Lake Dillon at the Frisco Bay Marina.  We worked it out that a patch of grass be maintained to where we could have our ceremony looking at two fourteeners in the distance, with mountains surrounding us.

This is why it's called SUMMIT COUNTY. | photo[robinjohnsonphoto.com] Breckenridge Wedding Photography

As someone who's in the wedding industry, and lives in Breckenridge, it was still very time-consuming to explore options, talk to vendors and finalize details.  We not only have knowledge and experience of working many weddings and special events in the area, but we also know what it's like to have the worries about money, who pays for what and the concerns of planning this whole experience for everyone.

We know the problems that you'll encounter and the choices you'll have to make.   What's best is that we also know the people you need to solve those problems.  You'll get a piece of mind knowing that real mountain folks are helping you plan your mountain wedding.

Groom's Tip - Ask for help

Looking back, I would have asked a few more of the guys to pitch in and help out, so I could've relaxed more.  After a late night catching up, all the guys were busy or conveniently missing when I set up the chairs for the ceremony.

I really didn't mind working a bit at my own wedding, but now realize I wish I would've taken it a bit more easy and utilized the man power that was present.

I guess I wanted everyone to enjoy themselves, and not have to strain themselves, as most of the visitors were not used to the altitude.  Working many events over the years, I've now seen how many bridal parties don't do much but take pictures, eat great food and enjoy the moment.  I did just that, but in my own way.

After the ceremony we had a pontoon parade that toured Lake Dillon and created a perspective that you don't see from terra firma.  We're kayakers and enjoy the peaceful morning paddles and that's what prompted us to share this lake experience during our mountain wedding.  A speeding boat created a tense-filled moment where I thought my new wife and I would be swimming in the cold, alpine lake.  But, that is for another story...
